Sen. Dave McCormick announced at an energy and innovation summit on Tuesday that Pennsylvania has recently received $90 billion in commitments. The political and business leaders who spoke at the event at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh said these investments will help position the state as a leader in the AI revolution that is just beginning to transform the country and its economy.

Appearing at what is being billed as the first-ever Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, President Trump praised the commonwealth’s energy sector and trumpeted a series of investments in energy and artificial intelligence that are set to be made across the state.

Trump has repeatedly pledged U.S. “energy dominance” in the global market, and Pennsylvania — a swing state critical to his wins in 2016 and 2024 — is at the forefront of that agenda, in large part due to its coal industry that the Republican administration has taken several steps to bolster.

"That moment captured who he is at his core — a strong leader — and marked a turning point in the 2024 election," said Sen. Dave McCormick.
