Tyler Thornton, a former Duke basketball captain under Mike Krzyzewski, is joining the Blue Devils as an assistant coach for Jon Scheyer.

Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer is bringing a familiar face back to Durham: former Blue Devil Tyler Thornton will join the coaching staff as an assistant. Thornton, who played at Duke from 2010 to 2014, returns after a successful coaching stint at Howard University, an HBCU where he served under fellow Duke alum Kenneth Blakeney.

Duke entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed after winning the ACC Tournament title. The Blue Devils wound up defeating Mount St. Mary's, Baylor, Arizona and Alabama en route to the Final Four, where they lost in the semifinals to the Houston Cougars.

Megan Lee rowed at Duke and Cambridge, and now she's rowing in the top boat for the Washington women as they head into the NCAA championships.

The preseason No. 15 Blue Devils displayed a series of solid fall showings before stumbling through their spring slate. Duke cut its postseason run short with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Norman Regional.
