READINGTON — A minor earthquake shook New Jersey Friday afternoon centered in the same area where a major quake struck in 2024. The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 2.4 earthquake struck at 3:42 p.m. along Cold Brook Road in Whitehouse Station.
According to News 12 meteorologist Mike Rizzo, the quake is deeper and weaker than the 2024 April quake, which was nearly 1.6 miles deep and at a magnitude 4.8.
A minor earthquake rattled New Jersey Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Society. The magnitude-2.4 quake was centered around Whitehouse Station, in Hunterdon County, at 3:42 p.m., the USGS said.
A minor earthquake shook Whitehouse Station Friday night, measuring 2.3 to 2.4 on the Richter scale. While felt by a few residents, it caused no reported damage.
New Jersey experienced a minor earthquake on the afternoon of Jan. 30, according to the United States Geological Survey.
