We expect our active weather to continue tonight with anothe round of snow, which is expected to cause slow travel and school closings on Wednesday morning.
During the day, we’ll get a break from the snow. Skies will likely stay cloudy though. However, despite the lack of sun, it won’t be as cold as recent days. Our afternoon highs will climb into the upper 20s to around 30 degrees.
Your First Alert Storm Team has issued tonight and tomorrow morning as First Alert Days due to wintry weather that will have travel impacts.
However, with temperatures rising above freezing in the afternoon, the top layer of snow will begin to melt and could form a crust. This may act to reduce the risk of blowing snow and blizzard conditions, but with wind gusts potentially near 60mph, the wind is still expected to erode away that crust and cause visibility issues.
Winds are beginning to crank and will continue to do so into tonight and Wednesday. That’s ahead of an arctic front set to bring another blast of winter behind it late Wednesday and Thursday. Another snowmaker follows that up Thursday night and Friday then we watch the weekend.
