Dallas Stars starting goalie Jake Oettinger was pulled after giving up two goals on the only two shots he faced in the first 7:09 of Game 5 in the Western Conference final, a 6-3 loss to Edmonton that ended their season.

The Oilers went on to win the game 6-3 and the best-of-7 series 4-1, advancing to a rematch with the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final, which starts on Wednesday in Edmonton (8 p.m. ET; CBC, TVAS, SN, TNT, truTV, MAX).

The story of the game was Dallas coach Pete DeBoer’s controversial decision to pull goalie Jake Oettinger when the Stars fell behind 2-0 early in the first period. Backup goalie Casey DeSmith quickly gave up a goal of his own and, while they showed some life in a comeback attempt, the Stars could never dig themselves out of the hole.
