Liverpool have held talks with Crystal Palace over signing Marc Guehi and Reds captain Virgil van Dijk has spoken out about the prospect of signing a new defender

Virgil van Dijk admitted that further defensive reinforcements would ‘accelerate’ Liverpool ’s improvement as the club considers a move for Marc Guehi. Liverpool secured a dramatic 4-2 victory over Bournemouth in their opening Premier League fixture after late goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamaed Salah.

An offer is yet to be made for the England international while an agreement would also need to be reached on the player side.
