Memphis football is unranked in the initial College Football Playoff rankings — but the Tigers are still in the projected playoff field. The playoff committee released its first rankings on Nov. 4, and the Tigers (8-1, 4-1 American Conference) did not crack the Top 25. No Group of Five team made the rankings.

The Grizzlies (3-5) were led by Jaren Jackson Jr.'s 21 points. Ja Morant added 18 points and 10 assists in his return from a one-game suspension. The loss snaps the Grizzlies' nine-game winning streak over the Pistons (5-2).
