Embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams has accepted the resignation of his deputy mayor for public safety, Philip Banks.

The city's deputy mayor for public safety quit, becoming the sixth top official to do so in the past month as Mayor Adams navigates federal indictment.

Adams said on TV station NY1 that Banks had told him Sunday that “he wants to transition to some other things” and “doesn’t want this to be a constant burden on the work that we’re doing in the city.” The mayor added,
