Newark Mayor Ras Baraka insisted that Newark's water supply is safe for residents after a contractor failed to replace lead pipes in the city.

The hired Princeton contractor allegedly "intentionally failed" to complete the work as well as falsely represented it installed new copper pipes that were already in place.

A contractor hired to replace lead pipes throughout Newark faked the work, put residents’ lives at risk and charged the city $10 million for the job.
