The Indian Army has launched several operations in a heightened state of alert to neutralise the terrorists involved. Following the attack, nationwide protests have erupted, demanding stricter action against Pakistan for its alleged role in sponsoring terrorism.

Terrorists opened fire in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday, killing 26 people, mostly tourists, in the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019.

China has expressed its support for Pakistan, its "all-weather strategic cooperative partner", and advocated for an "impartial probe" into the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 Indians and one Nepalese citizen on April 22.
