Thousands of Pennsylvania and New Jersey workers are expected to lose their jobs amid Rite Aid‘s bankruptcy, according to layoff notices filed in each state. Over 1,000 Pennsylvania workers employed at the company’s "remote" headquarters in Philadelphia’s Navy Yard and at an office in Etters,

Philadelphia-based drugstore chain Rite Aid plans to close all of its U.S. locations — including 33 stores in Philly — and shutter its headquarters at the Navy Yard as part of its second bankruptcy filing in less than two years, the company said Monday.

Pharmacy chain Rite Aid announced it began Chapter 11 proceedings Monday. Stores will remain open for pharmacy services over the next few months.
