State police in Maine say a passenger in a car fatally shot his mother before shooting at passing vehicles, killing another motorist and injuring two others, then dying by suicide.

Maine State Police Col. William Ross said Davis was experiencing a mental health crisis before the incident, which resulted in the deaths of the suspect’s mother and a woman who worked at two elementary schools in the area.

While driving on King Road at the intersection of Route 9, police say Davis shot his mother. She died at the scene.
