Detroit Tigers right-hander Sawyer Gipson-Long was scheduled to make his fifth rehab start, but the Tigers activated him from the injured list.

To make room for Gipson-Long’s return to the pitching staff, Detroit optioned Codi Heuer to Triple-A Toledo. He was one of the relief pitchers the team acquired ahead of the MLB trade deadline, landing him in a deal from the Texas Rangers.

CHICAGO -- The Detroit Tigers have reinstated right-hander Sawyer Gipson-Long from the injured list, and he will be available out of the bullpen for Wednesday’s series finale against the Chicago White Sox. Right-hander Codi Heuer was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.
