Another MSU commit was selected in the fifth round with forward Max Heise being taken at pick 150 by the San Jose Sharks. Heise was playing in the BCHL with Penticton, but recently signed to play with the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL.

The first round of the 2025 NHL draft is in the books. Locally, the Red Wings added some skill and grit by selecting winger Carter Bear of the Everett Silvertips in the Western Hockey League. Michigan and Michigan State each produced first-round picks.

Another year, another few Michigan State Spartans being drafted into the NHL. A pair of future Spartans heard their names called on Friday night in the first-round of the 2025 NHL Draft. Both players were in attendance at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
