A person is in custody after a female Chicago police sergeant was shot in the leg while she was on duty late Saturday night on the city's Far South Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.

A pedestrian was hit by the suspect's car and was hospitalized with a lower body injury.

Two officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital after the incident that began at 5:39 p.m. Monday, according to a Chicago Police Department statement.
