ANKARA (Reuters) -Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan welcomed an agreement between the Kurdish-led and U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syria’s new government, saying its full implementation would contribute to security and stability in the country.

Turkey has backed anti-Assad Syrian forces for years and maintains bases in Syria's north. Its defence ministry said there was no surge in deployments late last week, after sources in Syria said more armored vehicles had crossed the border.

Turkey is taking all measures and will continue to provide all possible support for the territorial integrity and unity of Syria, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, referring to the escalating violence against the Alawites and Christians of Syria and denounced what he described as “ efforts to ignite the Syrian ‘fire’ in Turkey “.

Tayyip Erdogan's long-held goal of ending Turkey's conflict with Kurdish militants is a step closer after their jailed chief's peace call, giving the president a potential political boost at home and a chance to resolve key regional security concerns.
