To preview the album, Dacus shared two excellent new tracks: “Ankles” and “Limerence.” The former is a sexually-charged stunner, in which she sings over a euphoric string arrangement, “What if we don’t touch?/What if we only talk about what we want/And cannot have/And I’ll throw a fit?”

Dacus says in a press release of the period during which the album was written, “I got kicked in the head with emotions. Falling in love, falling out of love. […] You have to destroy things in order to create things.
