The quest for a state championship begins Friday night when the undefeated Langston Hughes Panthers (10-0) host the East Paulding Raiders (6-4) in the first round of the GHSA Class 5A playoffs at Langston Hughes Football Stadium in Fairburn.

The Broncos began the third-quarter possession at the Las Vegas 33-yard line after an interception and big return by linebacker Dondrea Tillman. The Denver offense had already punted five times and ended another drive with an interception, but now they were in prime position to grab the lead.

The 16-time state champion St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders (9-1) will begin their quest for another title when they host the Heritage Panthers (4-6) in a FHSAA 5A regional quarterfinal matchup Friday night in Fort Lauderdale.

The Broncos and Raiders are at opposite ends of the AFC West. Denver extended it's lead in the division with a win on "Thursday Night Football".

The Red Raiders, who debuted at No. 8 last week in the CFP, moved up two spots this week after defeating then-No. 7 BYU, 29-7

No team can afford to lose their best players; the Raiders are no different. Las Vegas enters their Week 7 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys about as healthy as they can get, minus the players they have on injured reserve.
