Northwestern will open its new Ryan Field in October when Penn State comes to town, according to Steve Greenberg of the Chicago Sun Times. It will not be ready in time for the season opener against South Dakota State on September 5th or the home game vs. Colorado two weeks later.

EVANSTON, Ill. — The Northwestern football team will play its first game at the new Ryan Field exactly 100 years to the day that the old Ryan Field hosted its first football game.
