People who rely on the federal food assistance program might not receive their benefits for the month of November because of the ongoing government shutdown.

Food pantries across Milwaukee have been working at a higher capacity as low-income families scramble to get food on the table amid FoodShare delays.

The 13 food pantries that are part of the Association of Community Ministries say that they are desperate for more food and more money. For that reason, they are launching a campaign to ask neighbors to donate to their efforts.
