U.S. President Donald Trump has extended a 26-year-old free-trade agreement with African countries that was left in doubt last year when his administration allowed it to expire while enforcing his policy of reciprocal tariffs.

According to a Reuters report, India has agreed to purchase petroleum, defence equipment and aircraft from the United States, while also partially opening its tightly regulated agriculture sector under a trade agreement.

The 27-nation bloc struck a trade deal with Trump in July.
