French skier Paco Rassat, the big surprise of the World Cup slalom season, scored his second win Sunday adding to his fast-rising reputation before the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina next month.
Mikaela Shiffrin, Alice Robinson, Paula Moltzan and more carve into Semmering, Austria for FIS Alpine Ski World Cup giant slalom and slalom action.
The American narrowly edged out Switzerland's Camille Rast in the women's slalom at Sunday's FIS Alpine Ski World Cup event in Semmering, Austria. She posted a combined time of 1:48.82, only 0.09 seconds better than Rast. This Shiffrin's 106th World Cup victory all time.
Rast, from the same canton in the Swiss Alps where the New Year's fire killed 40, said, "We race for (the victims) this weekend."

Alpine ski great Marcel Hirscher is ending his effort to make a comeback for the Milan Cortina Olympics. The 36-year-old Hirscher came out of a five-year retirement last season to compete for the Netherlands on the World Cup circuit,
