Medical students who survived when an Air India plane crashed into their hostel in Ahmedabad say their first reaction was to help treat the injured.

The identification and handing over process is ongoing for the rest, with authorities working round-the-clock in coordination with forensic teams and grieving families.

The Air India flight fell from the sky on Thursday and killed at least 270 people in Gujarat state, officials said Saturday.

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who perished in an Air India crash, was cremated with state honors in Rajkot. Union Home Minister Amit Shah led tributes, and a massive crowd gathered for the funeral procession.
