The CDC has issued a Level 3 travel advisory for Rwanda due to an outbreak of the Marburg virus. The agency will also screen travelers from Rwanda.

The Marburg virus can cause a severe hemorrhagic fever that is similar to Ebola. And like Ebola, it can be deadly. This outbreak has included people in seven districts in Rwanda and by Tuesday, the number had risen to 36 people in isolation and treatment, many of them reportedly health care workers. Twelve people have died.

In response to an unprecedented outbreak of Marburg virus in Rwanda, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now plan to screen arriving international travelers for their risk of bringing the deadly Ebola-like disease into the country.
