Wisconsinites are getting hit with another wave of text scams. This latest one using the name of the Wisconsin DMV is exploding in the last week. The state Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies continue getting reports about a scam text saying it’s your final notice to pay a fine for a traffic violation.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department, a fake DMV notice and a fake toll bill scam are circulating the community and state. The fake toll bill scams involve fake messages from someone pretending to be with a toll company. In the messages, they allege unpaid tolls, demanding immediate payment to avoid legal action.
The Idaho Transportation Department has another scam warning. This time scammers are texting individuals claiming to be a part of the DMV. The messages falsely claim that individuals can pay online to obtain or expedite a real id or star card. if you receive one of these messages do not click on any links or provide personal information.
The scammers are not taking summer vacation; they're trying some old scams to take your money or your information.
