Recent torrential rains caused record-breaking floods in the South and Eastern U.S., causing nearly 20 deaths. Floods resulted in considerable infrastructure damage, challenging rescue efforts. With more rain forecast and grounds already saturated, further flooding continues to be a severe risk.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Several roads are closed in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, after torrential rain on Monday caused massive flooding in the region. Elizabethtown was hit by several inches of rain, which led to many creeks overflowing, according to city officials.

A confirmed tornado touched down about 20 miles north of Roundup in Musselshell County during a wild weekend of severe weather across Montana.

What started as a sudden and severe round of flooding in Washington County has now turned into a major cleanup effort, especially in South Strabane Township.

Fire departments are responsible for water rescue. According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, residents should be aware of torrential downpour in the area, paying attention to any weather alerts, and know what areas are prone to flooding. Wood County Sheriff Rick Woodyard said it is crucial to not panic.

Kent County Council says drains on minor roads are cleaned once every one to three years depending on risk factors including whether the areas are a known flooding zone. Drains on high speed roads are then checked once annually between April and September.

SOUTH STRABANE, Pa. — Emergencies were declared in two communities hit hard by flooding over the weekend. “Within 10 minutes, the water overwhelmed the sandbags,” one neighbor said. Tonight on 11 at 11, reporter Addison Albert details the damage done and why neighbors, are dreading the next storm.

According to the Camden County Sheriff's Office, the downpour caused widespread flooding, particularly near South Mills and Old Trap, where culvert ditches overflowed and spilled onto major routes. Sheriff Kevin Jones said deputies discovered multiple affected roadways and are monitoring the situation closely.
