The Merriam-Webster dictionary traces “86” to “1930s soda-counter slang meaning that an item was sold out. There is varying anecdotal evidence about why the term eighty-six was used, but the most common theory is that it is rhyming slang for nix.”
Fox News producer Johnny Belisario confronted James Comey at a book signing to ask about his attention-grabbing anti-Trump Instagram post. But the former FBI director remained tight-lipped until Belisario was led away wanting more.
Comey said he spoke with the Secret Service multiple times, including in person, about the post after agents contacted him.
