The singer has gone back and forth about whether his "Hurry Up Tomorrow" movie will mark the end of his long-running musical alter ego.

He first signaled the end of his longtime stage name in 2023 after he ditched his moniker on social media. In an interview with W Magazine, the singer said he was "getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter.

The singer-songwriter has spoken about retiring his stage name following the release of his sixth studio album and companion film of the same name, "Hurry Up Tomorrow."
