MALACAUNE, France (Velo) — Jonas Vingegaard proved Tuesday on the Tour de France ’s most famous climb that he’s willing to risk losing the race to win it. By week three of the Tour, race-ragged riders and teams will often settle for what they have instead of risking it all to gain more.

INEOS Grenadiers’ Thymen Arensman won stage 14 of the Tour de France on Saturday, riding solo for the final 37km of a brutal day in the Pyrenees. Behind him race leader Tadej Pogacar added six seconds to his lead over Jonas Vingegaard.

Matteo Jorgenson said that he has "no excuses" after a tough stage 12 at the Tour de France saw him drop several times and eventually lose 10 minutes, falling from fifth to 10th in the general classification.

The reigning Giro d'Italia champion Simon Yates (Visma-Lease a Bike) soared to the third Tour de France stage win of his career - and first in six years - with victory atop the Puy de Sancy on Bastille Day as Ireland's Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) took over the race lead from Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG).
