The sophomore attacker, who led the team in assists this season, grew up watching the NCAA men’s lacrosse final with his family. Now, he achieved greatness on the big stage.

For the first time since 1977, Cornell lacrosse has won the NCAA Tournament championship. The No. 1 Big Red, who have lost in three championship game appearances since their last title, defeated No. 2 Maryland 13-10 on Monday to once again establish itself as the best team in college lacrosse.

The Big Red outlasted Maryland, 13-10, in the Division 1 championship game Monday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, cementing the program’s first national title since 1977 and fourth all time.
