South Park co-creator Trey Parker has made a short, joke apology to President Donald Trump for ridiculing him in the opening show of their 27th season. The episode, broadcast on Wednesday, depicted the US president naked in bed with recurring character Satan.

Paramount+ brings the original geek property for its customary blockbuster 90-minute panel featuring the upcoming Starfleet Academy animated series and the fan favorite Strange New Worlds. It could be particularly poignant as that series was recently revealed to be ending.

The comedy duo were asked if they'd anticipated such a strong reaction to the premiere during a Comedy Central panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
