Edgecombe averaged 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.1 steals playing for the Bears in the 2024-25 season. He will now look to bring his all-around game to the city of Philadelphia and help the Sixers bounce back from a tough season.

A national television audience caught Edgecombe’s hands in a prayer position upon (finally) hearing his name called, and the hug with his mother. He missed the Bahamian flags that peppered the crowd inside the arena bowl, because he was too concentrated on not falling as he walked up the stairs to the stage.

VJ Edgecombe spent two years as a star basketball player at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, twice winning player of the year on Long Island.
