President Joe Biden is setting a 10-year deadline for U.S. cities to replace lead pipes and make drinking water safe for all Americans.

While in Wisconsin, President Biden announced his administration is investing an additional $2.6 billion for drinking water upgrades and lead pipe replacements.

The American Water Works Association, an industry group, said consumers would pay for most of the project through higher water bills.

President Joe Biden is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to discuss the progress made in replacing lead pipes and creating good-paying jobs. The Environmental Protection Agency ruled on Tuesday to mandate that all water utilities replace all lead pipes within 10 years.
