Thailand and Cambodia exchanged heavy artillery fire for a second day on Friday as their worst fighting in over a decade intensified and spread to new areas.
The first clash on Thursday morning took place near the ancient Ta Muen Thom temple along the border of Thailand's Surin province and Cambodia's Oddar Meanchey province, the AP reported.
Tensions exploded as Thailand launched airstrikes on Cambodian military targets along the disputed border, leading to reported casualties and the evacuation of 40,000 civilians.
Thailand has not yet commented on the proposal, as fighting continues for a third day with 32 confirmed killed.
