Millions of Pixel users have already upgraded to Android 15, with the latest version of the OS promising a wealth of security and privacy updates. Announcing its release last week, Google promised “security features that help keep your sensitive health, financial and personal information protected from theft and fraud.”

Android 15 seems to be bricking certain Pixel 6 models, with the issue potentially linked to the new Private Space feature.

Pixel 6 users are reporting bricking issues after installing the Android 15 update, with the problem linked to the Private Space feature and general use. Google has yet to issue a fix.

From the sounds of things it’s not actually the Android 15 update that’s causing the problems; it’s actually setting up the Private Space feature. At least three users have come across the same issue and posted about their experiences on Reddit. Two of those users had a Pixel 6, while a third had a Pixel 6 Pro.

Although the update process is smooth and uneventful, some Pixel 6 users have complained that Android 15 is bricking their devices.

As reports of bricked devices continue to emerge online, we suggest users to not install Android 15 on Pixel 6 devices just yet.

Android 15 introduces a completely new design to the expanded Android volume panel on Pixels — with larger, more easily adjusted sliders for specific sorts of media volumes as well as a more prominent button to shift your phone’s audio output from the phone itself to any connected devices.

Open the Settings app on a compatible Google Pixel device. Look through the menu and select “System”. Tap on “Software updates”. Your device will search for an update and if one is found, it'll give you the chance to download and install it.

On Android 15, Private Space lets you hide apps, but multiple users on Reddit say the feature killed their Pixel 6 smartphones.
