The Detroit Lions are not expected to play their top two rookies in the preseason-opening Hall of Fame Game this Thursday night in Canton, Ohio.

On Tuesday, head coach Jim Harbaugh announced that Trey Lance will start the game at quarterback.

Ryne Sandberg, the Hall of Fame Chicago Cubs second baseman who was acclaimed for both his brilliant fielding and his power hitting, died on Monday.

As Sandberg fought cancer last year, the Cubs unveiled a statue outside Wrigley Field that showed the second baseman in his familiar defensive crouch.
