Progressive U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont is backing a Michigan state lawmaker who is trying to unseat U.S. Rep. Shri Thanedar of Detroit.

The Vermont senator and two-time presidential candidate is supporting state Rep. Donavan McKinney in his challenge of the U.S. House incumbent.
