Ukraine has officially denied claims about alleged plans to develop nuclear weapons. The country has been and remains a committed party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

"We never spoke about...that we are preparing to create nuclear weapons or something like this," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Ukraine is not discussing the possibility of restoring its nuclear arsenal. The relevant rumors are fake, according to Bild and a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Bild reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a European Council meeting in Brussels, referenced the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. Under this agreement, Ukraine was guaranteed territorial integrity in exchange for giving up its nuclear arsenal.
