Mountain climbing is a serious hobby (which can cost you some serious cash) but in an exciting announcement, the Nepalese government just shared that it plans to make 97 Himalayan mountains free to climb for the next two years. Now that’s a serious deal.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nepal has opened 97 new peaks in the Himalayan Mountains for mountain climbers and adventurers starting from July 17, 2025. These new peaks are opening to boost tourism and reduce overcrowding in the Mount Everest area, the country's main tourist attraction. Climbers are not charged for climbing these peaks.

Nepal announces it’s opening 97 peaks in Karnali and Sudurpaschim to international climbers for free as it hopes to diversify tourism away from the world’s highest mountain.
