WASHINGTON (AP) — Lawmakers have left Washington for the annual August recess, but a few weeks of relative quiet on the U.S.

The actions follow a so-far unsuccessful effort by a handful of moderate Senate Republicans to meet with the Treasury Department to discuss forthcoming guidance.

"There are a number of instances of lawmakers, again in a bipartisan way, pushing back on proposed cuts by the Trump administration" said Jack Fitzpatrick.
