It's been another especially active severe weather season across the Lone Star State, driven by persistent upper-level low pressure systems and abundant atmospheric moisture riding north from the Gulf of Mexico.

Although severe storms remain relatively frequent during the first half of June, a huge atmospheric change is set to occur in the coming weeks.

A stretch of intense and potentially dangerous weather is headed toward parts of Texas this weekend, with forecasters in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex warning of multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms beginning Saturday night and continuing through early next week.
