The blistering wind on an exceptionally frigid night — even for northeastern standards — couldn’t shake the thousands of UConn women’s basketball fans who huddled outside the XL Center more than two hours before the Huskies hosted USC four days before Christmas.

UConn star Paige Bueckers said she’s focusing on enjoying her final college postseason run after leading the Huskies to their fifth straight Big East Tournament title Monday night. The No. 3-ranked Huskies defeated No. 22 Creighton 70-50 at Mohegan Sun Arena behind 24 points from Bueckers and 13 from Azzi Fudd.

Creighton and UConn last met on Feb. 27, and the Huskies delivered a convincing 72-53 victory. Sarah Strong, Paige Bueckers, and Kaitlyn Chen each scored double-digit points, helping UConn to the regular season title.
