University of Chicago Medical Center also made the list of Best Regional Hospitals for Illinois, coming in at No. 3. The rest of the hospitals that ranked on the Illinois top 10 list were in the suburbs, spanning areas from McHenry, to Evanston, to Oak Lawn.

Northwestern Hospital was ranked as the best in Illinois and 11th nationally in adult specialties. The report highlighted the hospital's "high performing" rating in 22 adult procedures and positions.
