Colorado Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer was harsh but fair when talking about why he sent Chase Dollander back to the minor leagues.

The Rockies optioned rookie right-hander Chase Dollander to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday ahead of the club’s road trip to Boston and Cincinnati to conclude the first half before the all-star break. In a corresponding move, Colorado recalled Bradley Blalock, who will presumably take Dollander’s scheduled start on Saturday against the Reds.

Dollander made his Major League debut this season in April after not breaking camp on the MLB roster. He has started in 15 games for the Rockies, and he's just 2-9 on the year with a 6.68 ERA. He struck out 52 batters and walked 33 in 68.2 innings pitched.
