Elliott is interested in joining a playoff team, and his agent thanks Jones and the team for granting his client's release

The Cowboys released running back Ezekiel Elliott on Tuesday, a quiet end to a Dallas career that started with two rushing titles in three seasons but faded quickly from there. The move was the end of Elliott's second stint with the team that drafted him fourth overall in 2016.

After reuniting with the 29-year-old Elliott on a one-year deal this past April, the Cowboys will now enter the new year and Sunday’s season finale against the Washington Commanders without the nine-year veteran following a lackluster 2024 campaign for both parties.
