Wein, who lived in Massachusetts, visited Rhode Island often to see his brother and friends, his friend said (Facebook) “It’s just something very out of the ordinary for Westerly,” she said.

After several outlets reported on the remains last month, the South Kingstown Police Department revealed in a June 13 statement that the remains belonged to 31-year-old Eric Wein of Massachusetts.

According to police, the remains belong to 31-year-old Eric Wein, who had been reported missing on April 18. Human remains were discovered near Everett Avenue in Watch Hill Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
