OFFICERS want to speak to a man in connection with the theft of meat products from a shop in Wivenhoe. Essex Police enquiries are ongoing after reports of a man entering the Co-op store in The Avenue on multiple occasions since the beginning of July.

A New Jersey Transit bus driver is accused of causing a crash that critically injured a police officer in Essex County last month, authorities said Monday. Djimmy Evra, 40, of Orange, was charged with fourth-degree assault by auto with serious bodily injury in the crash last month in Roseland, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

A former Met Police sergeant from Suffolk has denied offences of indecent exposure and upskirting. Christopher Herd pleaded not guilty to indecent exposure and three counts of upskirting at Chelmsford Crown Court on July 10. The 48-year-old from Capel St Mary was arrested by Essex Police on August 30 last year.

The trial of an Essex Police officer accused of assaulting a Colchester man has got underway. Before Ipswich Crown Court on Monday (July 14) was 33-year-old PC James Brett of Springfield Road, Chelmsford. He has pleaded not guilty to assaulting the alleged victim causing him actual bodily harm on March 7 2022.

A ‘BARELY visible’ man driving an e-scooter on the A131 at night has had his vehicle seized by the police. On July 9, while going to a separate incident, Essex Police officers saw a man riding a privately-owned e-scooter on the A131 near Braintree. The road was dark, unlit and there was a 60mph speed limit.
