A weather system moving across Florida is expected to lead to rounds of rain this week in the Tampa Bay area. An area of low pressure was positioned off Florida’s east coast Monday and was churning out showers and thunderstorms.

South Florida will see a soggy start to its week due to a potential tropical system that is forecast to form in the Gulf and then move across Florida, the National Weather Service said Sunday.

South Florida faces heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with a flood watch in place and 1-2 inches of rain expected. Conditions include strong wind gusts and warm, muggy weather with rain chances diminishing later in the week.
