Some neighbors in a Harlem apartment building are spending Christmas gathered around stoves and electric heaters to stay warm after weeks without heat.

This cold Christmas Eve was even more uncomfortable for hundreds of residents of a condominium complex in Maryland. They say they have been without heat since mid-December. Residents of Chelsea Wood Condominiums in Greenbelt told News4 they’ve been informed it could be another couple of weeks,

Neighbors at the NYCHA Stuyvesant Gardens senior living facility in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood said drafty windows combined with minimal heat being produced from their floor vents make keeping warm difficult.

While the winter weather brought children outside to play in the snow Tuesday, neighbors living at 437 Manhattan Ave. were chilled to the bone in their homes. One woman on the seventh floor is one of several who said they are now sick after having to heat their apartments using their ovens with pots of water inside to prevent combustion.
