Terry Bollea, better known to the world as professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, died Thursday at his home in Clearwater, Florida, at the age of 71, TMZ reported, a development that was soon confirmed by WWE.

Hogan had hit peak stardom, and crossed over into starring in movies. He played a wrestler in “No Holds Barred” (1989) and an ex-wrestler-turned-caregiver in “Mr. Nanny” (1993). He also starred as a mercenary in the television series “Thunder in Paradise.”

Hulk Hogan, pro-wresting's 12-time world champion and TV personality, who helped transform the WWE into the behemoth it became, has died at age 71. TMZ was first to report the news on Thursday, July 24 that medics were sent to Hogan's home in Florida after he reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest. The outlet said he was taken out on a stretcher.
